Writing Instruction

Private Writing Instruction

Many students will benefit from the specialized attention of one-on-one instruction. Through private tutoring, your student's needs can be assessed, and an individualized plan of action set for working at a pace that will best serve your child.

Virtual classes will meet via Zoom for 30 weeks beginning on August 30, 2023. All classes will be live, interactive, include visual aids, and expect student participation. The number of students per class will not exceed ten. During class time we will review, then discuss the new lesson, complete the KWOs, and play games when time permits. At the start of the year, I will provide a syllabus, covering the tentative schedule for the year.

Students will be expected to complete a weekly assignment and submit it as a Google Doc through Google Classroom. After each class, I will email the assignment, and it will be broken into 'daily tasks,' helping students plan and manage the workload. I will evaluate and provide personal feedback on all written assignments in a timely manner. (Editing of the student’s rough drafts will be necessary by parents or older siblings.) Any assignment that does not earn a 100% may be resubmitted. I like to emphasize the vocabulary, and extra credit will be given to students for using the words in their compositions. Also, there will be four to five vocabulary quizzes. Grades will be distributed per semester and be based on points earned on the weekly assignments, vocabulary quizzes, and class participation.
